The technology group Apple introduced the fourth generation of the iPhone operating system for OS4, enabling simultaneous work on the popular mobile phone and computer in the new IPAD. At an event for programmers and reporters at the company headquarters in Cupertino, California, co-founder and CEO of Apple, Steve Jobs showed the new software will be available for the iPhone this summer and fall for the IPAD.
“We’re not the first to the party, but we will be better,” Jobs said, adding that the firm was slow to introduce this feature because it generally implies a higher consumption of battery for mobile phones and slows. Users and experts has long complained that the iPhone only operate at the same time allow some programs from Apple. From now on it will be possible, for example, listening to music on the Pandora online radio while reading postings on the phone screen, or hold a conversation via Skype while performing a search in Google Maps.
Some analysts have complained that the tablet does not have multi-tasking function, which was considered by many as one of its major weaknesses, together with the lack of real keyboard, webcam or USB ports. Now the iPhone OS4 will also allow the phone to have a unified inbox for all email accounts user and connect with a normal keyboard with Bluetooth technology, among other functions.
Jobs announced the creation of an advertising platform called iAd through which Apple will sell ads on iPhone applications developed by programmers outside the technology group, allowing them to keep 60 percent of revenue generated by the ads. Today’s event served, incidentally, to publicize sales figures for the two most popular Apple product right now.
According to Jobs, the company has sold 450,000 units of IPAD since it hit the market in the U.S. on Saturday and acknowledged that the company is struggling to meet the high demand. As for the iPhone, and distributed 50 million devices since its launch in the summer of 2007 and 4000 million applications downloaded to the phone.
Despite these figures, Apple’s shares reacted with slight declines in markets and at 2000 hours GMT were down 0.18 percent on Nasdaq, up to $ 240.16. Moreover, digital technology publication Digitimes said Wednesday that Apple plans to launch a smaller version of the IPAD in the first quarter of 2011, something like an IPAD Nano with a screen of only five or seven inches. This model would be directed to a user who just wants the device to surf the web, watch movies and access to video games, and would have a price of U.S. $ 400
Notice this is all for the iPod Touch too, the only problem is that only 3rd Gen 32GB and 64GB will be able to do multi tasking… that sucks…
Also, I already have iPad nano, it’s called iPod Touch
But nice moves Apple, you will make jailbreak a little bit less needed and google and adMob will lose money because of your iAd thing, though is nice!
Thanks for reading!
