The software company, who had build an extremely advanced software for flights tracking, booking and management announce that they had signed the agreement recently.
Thus, in addition to images, maps, news, books, videos and academic works, Google would enter a new market for precious and search tools that had not yet been leaning.
“The highly talented team of ITA has created a wonderful product to organize flight information,” said Google chairman Eric Schmidt.
ITA was founded in 1996 by a team of computer scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and introduced the system of algorithms that has created the brand “QXP” capable of processing up to a billion requests for prices.
This technology is seen as a catalyst for the revolution of the flight search on the Internet and, in fact, the major competitors in this market, the flight search engines Kayak and Expedia, use it.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the acquisition may be subject to regulatory scrutiny because it will mean the union of the largest software company and the travel search Web search market dominance.
